Messing About on the River
When the weather is fine then you know it’s a sign
For messing about on the river
If you take my advice there’s nothing so nice
As messing about on the river

Just sharing: this has been in my head all week. It sets the scene perfectly for Melanie and Lawrence’s riverside wedding day though — just look at these!
I’d love to know what Lawrence and Melanie said when they saw this wedding photo! It says it all — they’re perfect together. I had to start with this photo from the wedding breakfast, as it says so much about the bride and groom as well as showing that a great wedding photographer is watching for those magical moments — and gets them.
Before the wedding
Melanie’s wedding dress is simply cut and beautifully made with layers of folded fabric and sparkly crystal clusters.

Melanie follows her bridesmaids to the wedding. The colours used throughout the day were green and turquoise. I love the combination, and the bridesmaids look gorgeous.

The Captain’s Club adds its own contemporary chic character to wedding photos, from the round windows to the stylish furnishings inside and out.
Delightful wedding details

Wedding flowers — the details for the day were in green and turquoise, a gorgeous combination and very fitting for the riverside venue!
Weddings at The Captain’s Club get the best of both worlds: turn one way and you’re in a stylish modern wedding venue, turn back and the charm of the river Stour will hold you in its sway.
Thanks to Lisa Dawn for sharing this lovely summery and very English wedding. It’s a wonderful mix of contemporary and classy, and has a definite feelgood factor from the charm of the photos and the character of the wedding venue.
See more weddings on Lisa Dawn’s blog, and watch out for a wedding venue feature on The Captain’s Club here on the English Wedding blog soon.
I can’t write this post without mentioning Lisa’s own wedding, a beautiful fairytale wedding day with gorgeous DIY details at Old Wardour Castle in Wiltshire. Lisa was herself an incredibly beautiful bride and her wedding is unmissable — it was featured on Ruffled blog in the US and on the wonderful Love My Dress blog in the UK. Lisa — huge congratulations again from me. I hope you’re loving married life!
